Dr Des Fernandes is rated amongst the top five plastic surgeons in the world, specialising in burns and skin cancer patients, was a pioneer in the field in the 1980s.
Through intensive research he discovered the essential role vitamin A plays in skin health.When looking at cells of patients with cancer he noticed that they all had one thing in common, they were deficient in vitamin A. He became determined to create a skin care range that would help improve and maintain the appearance of healthy skin.
The introduction of Vitamin A into skin care formulations was a ground-breaking development in skin care, with him being the first to use vitamin A in high enough doses to help counteract everyday free radicals and create the appearance of radiant, visibly improved skin.
Dr Des, founder and scientific director of Environ, says: "aging skin is a direct result of sun induced vitamin A deficiency. Correct the deficiency and you'll have more radiant-looking skin".
Therefore, he designed Environ to help correct the visible effects of the deficiency of vitamin A in 1990. Since then vitamin A has become the cornerstone ingredient in the Environ philosophy.
